A Journey through Romans - Chapter 6

If we are saved by grace how is it that some people ask or think "It's ok if I commit just that little bit of sin" to which Paul has some stern words

Rom 6:1  What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2  By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

This is one question and viewpoint that people get confused about. We we get saved, we die to the worlds way of doing thing as well as the worlds viewpoint and become alive to Gods kingdom. If we go about with the mind set of its ok if I do just that little wrong act it should be fine because I'm forgiven but its a wrong thing to think as you are only just turning back into the world for answers and advice and that is where the whole thing of backsliding comes in and it even goes so far that all of a sudden you just turn your back to God and become a non-believer all over again.

Rom 6:10  For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.
Rom 6:11  So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

It says elsewhere that when we come into the kingdom of God we are a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come, but coming into the presence of Jesus we are called to live like him, to carry on sinning will be a tragedy in itself because as it says in verse 10 we are dead to sin. Bottom line stop and think before you do anything "is this right and honouring God" because at the end of the day when we become christian we stop serving ourselves and we serve God.
